America Can Stop Hitting Snooze

There’s the old saying, “you snooze, you lose.” When I look out my window, that’s what I’m seeing. Us losing. Many Americans are just hitting the snooze button, afraid of waking up to reality. We’ve become so accustomed to procrastination that we think just sleeping through our problems will make them just go away. But they won’t. That’s not how we solve problems in life. You’re just delaying them until tomorrow.

This is the problem we are facing in America today. And that problem is socialism.

For years, many in America have been hoping we can adopt socialism while sadly, other people in countries who actually have a socialist society, are crying for freedom. It’s as if these Americans have abused their freedoms and taken them for granted, that they’re using them to say they don’t want freedom anymore. And it doesn’t help that many political leaders are trying to advocate for it. Have we forgotten the history of this ideological push?

One example you can look at is Yugoslavia. When you look at the Yugoslav wars that occurred during the 1990’s, you can see very similar things happened then that are happening now in the Unites States. It all started with a rise in Marxist ideology.

Marxists take their name from Karl Marx wrote a detailed document on how to turn a country into a Communist paradise. They will instigate two or more groups of people and turn them against each other by intentionally inciting fear and violence into the masses. They will usually assert that one group is being oppressed by another group and tell them to take vengeance on their oppressors. This causes major unrest among the people and massive damage and casualties become of it.

In Yugoslavia, the people that were caught up in this unrest were a few religious groups. Several wars broke out and its socialist regime finally had to come to an end.

A more recent example is the country of Venezuela. Only going back about thirty years, it was the wealthiest country in South America. A country that is very prosperous makes many believers in socialism salivate. They believe that because there is a lot of money, that it should be distributed evenly among the people. The problem is, it never does. Since adopting a socialist economy, as well as a few other things, Venezuela is now actually one of the poorest countries in the world. More on them here.

This brings us back to the United States of America. A highly prosperous nation with many advocating for socialism now. Many people have risen up in recent years, instigating two ethnic groups in a highly diverse nation, claiming that one has been oppressing the other for a long time and should now take vengeance. There have been a ton of violence, damage, and casualties along the way. Does any of this sound familiar? It needs the violence and self-proclaimed “oppression”, because that’s what it thrives on. There really isn’t any and where there isn’t, they make it up.

Don’t be fooled by the hysteria and give into the narrative that a socialist economy will be a heavenly nirvana. It never has and it never will. Yes, acknowledge them when they hurt and be there for them, but try and help them to see the errors this thinking has. When presented with this fact, the only rebuttal a believer in socialism has is that, “we just haven’t gotten it right yet.” How many more times should we try?

There’s a very good reason that the ideology of Marxism and socialism don’t work. It’s because it’s just an ideology. It’s only made for an ideal world. We don’t live in an ideal world though. That’s why it will never work. Even if we conceded the notion that the teachings themselves could work, because sure, it sounds nice, we won’t ever know because it’s always been used for political power. That’s it. It always ends up failing because man is greedy always wants more money and power. That’s how it always ends up. Socialism really does result in equality. It makes its people equally poor and its government equally rich.

America, stop hitting the snooze button. Many are not looking at history, some maybe intentionally, to learn from it. You know the ol' saying. It’s time to wake up and face the truth. Live in the real world and let’s work together to solve real problems. We’re all in this together and together we can achieve more.
